On reading the Darqawi Letters, I find a lot of them addressing issues, fears, and anxieties many of us face in modern times; naming the delusions and giving practical methods to overcome them. He also gives advice on accepting fate and developing lofty character traits, and it is simple and straightforward. Is there a reliable translation for this Sufi manual in English?¶
Several weeks ago, you told a story about Hatim al-Asamm rebuking scholars for their luxurious dwellings. My present such dwelling might even be spare. I’ve read the chapter on ‘Life, Work, and Wealth’ which puts much of this into context. What lesson can we take from Hatim al-Asamm’s admonition?¶
