The symbols of Islam are mostly heard (auditory symbols). Is there some sort of an unconscious level of the human being that is reached by the auditory symbols, such as making the adhan in the ear of a newborn and so forth?¶
In Sea Without Shore, Sheikh Abul Hasan al-Shadhili told Abul ‘Abbas al-Mursi, ‘I have not kept your company but that you should become me and I become you.’ Does this process of becoming refer to the qualities that exist within a man and his teacher or the context that they behold within themselves or their qualitative experiences, or is it perhaps all of these or more?¶
